Indian History is classified into three different periods:

Indus Valley Civilization (3300-1900 BC) to the first Muslim attack by
Muhammad Bin Qasim (712-715 AD).The end of the reign of King
Harshavardhan also signifies the end of ancient history.
Indian Medieval History went for almost three whole centuries under the indigenous rulers that included the Chalukyas, the Pallavas, the Pandyas, the Rashtrakutas, the Rashtrakutas, the Muslim rulers and finally the Mughal Empire.
- A major part of modern history was occupied by the British rule in India. The British administered India for a period of about two centuries and brought about revolutionary changes in the social, economic, and political life of the country.
