Polycythemia

Polycythemia is a disease characterized by increase in the number of red blood cells (RBCs).<br>

The extra RBCs cause the blood to be thicker, and this, in turn, increases the risk of other health issues, such as blood clots.

The causes for Polycythemia are
a. High altitude
b. Congenital heart diseases.
c. Hyperplasia of bone marrow (Polycythemia vera).

The manifestations of polycythemia:
a. Headache, weakness, and Tiredness.
b. Red Face and Red Eyes.
c. Thromboembolic complications.
d. Haemorrhagic manifestations.
